Pelicula: 23rd Manila Spanish Film Festival at Shangri-La Cinema | October 5-13, 2024

Created in 2002 by Instituto Cervantes de Manila, PELíCULA>PELIKULA Film Festival celebrates its 23rd edition showcasing 25 featured films from Spain and Latin America. It has grown, year after year, challenge after challenge, to become the most important showcase for Spanish-language cinema in Southeast Asia.

PELíCULA>PELIKULA will screen films for FREE at Shangri-La Cinema from October 5 to 13, 2024.

The 2024 edition of PELÍCULA will kick off on October 5 with the screening of “Robot Dreams” (2023), an acclaimed animation directed by Pablo Berger, which has won multiple awards.

“The themes that we present is more on diversity which is something very Filipino and Spanish. We think that another topic (to relate) is loneliness. There are many films talking about this kind of society which is crowded and always surrounded by people but at the end of the day, you arrive home you are one with your dramas. I think that can also be something as Filipino and very Spanish so we have themes exploring that. Roots are also very present in this film festival we are trying to show them ours (Spanish) through filmmakers, writers,” remarks Francisco Javier López Tapia, director of Instituto Cervantes de Manila.
