62nd Palanca Awards Winners (2012)

Winners of the 62nd Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (Palanca Awards) were honored in the annual awarding ceremonies on September 1, 2012 at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.
The Palanca Awards is the Philippines’ most prestigious and longest-running literary competition. This year, the Palanca received a total of 1,077 entries in 20 categories. Out of these submissions, 59 winning works were selected from 58 writers – with half (29 authors) are first-time winners.
Peter Solis Nery, multi-awarded poet, fictionist and author, is this year's Palanca Hall of Fame awardee. He clinched his fifth first prize for “Punctuation” under the Poetry for Children category. The said award is given to writers who have won five (5) first places in any category.
The Gawad Dangal ng Lahi was conferred on guest of honor Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. He is a writer, mentor, former instructor, marketing communications expert, and one of the pillars of Philippine advertising.
