The Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center of De La Salle
University is inviting young critics to apply for fellowship to KRITIKA
2012 National Workshop on Art and Cultural Criticism. In cooperation
with the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, this workshop will be held
on April 22-28, 2012. Eminent critic and professor Dr. Rolando Tolentino
is workshop director.
The workshop
will focus on critical writing in the following arts: literature,
theatre, film, dance, music, architecture, and the visual arts. It is
envisioned to give young writers who want to commit themselves to art
criticism a forum where they could discuss their work and concerns with
established art critics in the country.
Ten (10) applicants
will be chosen for the fellowships, which will include transportation
stipend and free board and lodging at Balay Kalinungan of the University
of St. La Salle-Bacolod.
Manuscript
should be an unpublished critical essay. It should be on work by
Filipino artist/s. Preferred manuscripts are those that study the work
of our National Artists. A study may choose to examine more than one art
form. Manuscripts in a regional language (e.g. Cebuano, Hiligaynon) are
welcome and must be accompanied by an abstract in English or Filipino,
or a translated version in English or Filipino.

2401 Taft Avenue, Manila. The application should include a cover letter
(with complete contact information), an unpublished critical paper, at
least one sample published critical work, and a curriculum vitae with

Deadline for
application is January 6, 2012. Applicants selected for the fellowships
