In
conjunction with the series of exhibitions on and of Roberto Chabet
here and abroad, art professional Carina Evangelista will discuss on August 17, 3pm, at the Lopez Museum,
how Chabet employs the random, the haphazard and the accidental in
order to deploy codified visual indices of meaning. Chabet has created
and continues to create collages, constructions and deconstructions. In
these works, he uses everyday objects in compositions that play on form
and meaning.
Together
with this talk is a panel discussion among former members of Shop 6, a
loose organization of artists whose vanguard shows in the 70s were
distinct for the predominant use of organic and industrial everyday
objects. Discussants include Nap Jamir, Red Mansueto, Yola Perez
Johnson, and Alan Rivera; Lopez Memorial Museum Curator Eileen
Legaspi-Ramirez will moderate this panel in cooperation with King Kong
Art Projects Unlimited.
