Repertory Philippines Children's Theater celebrates 19 years of producing well-loved musicals for children of all ages. It proudly announces its 2011 offering with the staging of Seussical, a musical full of fantasy, magic & wonder that will surely delight children's imagination. The story is based on the works of celebrated author Theodor Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss.
Directed by Joy Virata, the show’s book, music, and lyrics are handled by the Tony award-winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Eric Idle co-conceived the show.
Seussical will take everyone to the invisible world of Whoville, the Jungle of Nool and to the Circus McGurkus with a colorful cast of characters.
SYNOPSIS
The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge—not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid bird Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes “his kind and his powerful heart.” Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that will make you laugh and cry.
Seussical is co-presented by National Bookstore and the City of Makati. It is presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International. Show's venue is at Onstage, 2/F, Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas cor. Legazpi St., Makati City. The show runs until December 18, 2011.
