A two-day conference on the Eastern Visayas Culture, the first of its kind in the region, will be held on December 9-10, 2010.
Sponsored by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Leyte, the conference will address these concerns: natural environment and cultural resources in the region; natural and cultural heritage conservation; people’s health and nutrition; cultural identity; teaching of local and national history; livelihood practices; indigenous psychology; revitalization of traditional art; and cultural education in various settings.
The conference is multidisciplinary.
Some of the conference speakers include well known authorities in anthropology and history, Dr. Prospero Covar, Dr. Reynaldo Imperial and Dr. Franscisco Datar.
The conference will be attended by educators, policy planners, cultural works, community organizers, heritage advocates, artists, and media practitioners. A modest registration fee will be collected to cover food, materials and certificates.
