The visual arts collection of the Cultural Center of the Philippines is composed of a considerable body of works of modern art in South East Asia. Then as now, Filipino visual artists have been in the forefront of visual arts in the region. See some of these artists such as Virgilio Aviado, Jose Tence Ruiz, Phyllis Zaballero, and hear them talk about their works and the works of their contemporaries in, and the art scene of the periods covered by the Cultural Center of the Philippines visual arts collection in Dakdakan: Artists Narratives from the CCP Art Collection on March 13, Friday, 2-5pm at the MKP. The activity is free and open to the public.
The forum is the second of the series and complements the exhibition, "Suddenly Turning Visible: The Collection at the Center" curated by Dr Patrick Flores. The exhibition aims to present the visual arts collection of the Cultural Center of the Philippines since its inception in 1969. It is ongoing until April 26, 2009, with guided tours available (free of charge) on four consecutive Saturdays at 10am-12noon.
